QFTF Donations Surpass $10,000!

Written by Kurtis Constantine (Nyte) on May 5th, 2009

Yesterday I was contacted by a donor that wishes to remain anonymous. This donor is matching dollar-for-dollar all donations up to $10,000!

This puts us (as of this posting) at $10,774.88.
($4987.44 + $400 in uncleared eChecks = $5387.44 x 2 = $10,774.88)

I’m also making my final preparations to represent the community at the Sotheby’s Auction on Thursday. My wife works for the airlines, so I’m going to be hoping a flight from Cincinnati to London tomorrow. I should arrive at 9AM Thursday morning, with plenty of time to make it to the auction taking place at 2PM.

With four days remaining until the auction, the Quest for the Flag campaign has surpassed $5,000 in total donations.

As of today at 11 am EDT, supporters have donated over $2,600 during the 72-hour community-organized “Money Bomb” donation event, bringing the QFTF Campaign total to $5,002.44.

This is an incredible outpouring of support and appreciation for Funcom!

With only a few days remaining until the auction, every dollar we can raise is vital!

Fundraising event extended through weekend

Written by Kurtis Constantine (Nyte) on May 1st, 2009

I’ve received reports of ChipIn/PayPal bugging out on people and payments not processing. Therefor, to allow for more participation in the “Money Bomb” event, along with the associated incentives, we’re going to extend the event through the weekend.

So for those of you that may have missed today’s event, or had some difficulty with payment processing, you now have until Sunday at 11:59PM EDT (GMT -5) to submit contributions!

We’ve raised an amazing sum of money today despite the technical difficulties – Over $2200 in a 24 hours period! Bring the total raised up to $4487! (including $400 in echeck contributions which take 3-5 days to process)

Thank you very much to everyone supporting this project!

The graph page should give the most up-to-date information. The feed from the chip-in is on a 15-20 minutes delay (sometimes it seems longer). To see accurate numbers in the widget, you’ll need to clear your browser’s cache.

The Quest Begins on May 1st…

Written by Kurtis Constantine (Nyte) on April 17th, 2009

It is my pleasure to announce the launch of the “Quest for the Flag” campaign and the www.questfortheflag.com website!

Our goal is to rally together, and rally our friends and family to raise at least $15,000 to win the auction for Roald Amundsen’s Expedition Flag on May 7th, 2009.

This flag is of great symbolic significance not just to the TSW Community, but to the country and citizens of Norway. Roald Amundsen led the first Antarctic Expedition to the South Pole and is also the first person to reach both the North and South Poles. Amundsen was a central figure in the initial reveal and story for “The Secret World.”

This Flag was carried by Amundsen on all his polar expeditions.

When we win this auction, the Flag will be returned to its home in Norway and presented to Ragnar Tørnquist, producer and director of “The Secret World,” and the Funcom TSW Team, to preserve, protect, and provide inspiration for future explorers and dreamers.

Our fund raising efforts will be focused on a single “Money Bomb” day on May 1st, 2009 beginning at 12:01AM EDT (5:01 AM GMT)*.

The questfortheflag.com website has been created to provide a focal point for the campaign. Donations can be made at the website by clicking on the secure “Donate Here!” widget. Donations can also be made at the secure “ChipIn” site HERE.

The website will also provide tools to help us campaign. There is a Graphics Section with pictures of the flag, Amundsen and other ideas to help inspire your creativity.

We need all the help we can get! This is an entirely “grassroots” effort, and depends on each of us to do our part. Get the word out any way you can! Facebook, Twitter, Blogs, Youtube… get creative!

As an added incentive, everyone that contributes to the campaign will get a chance to win some awesome autographed Funcom items**, such as:

  • a copy of Dreamfall: TLJ, autographed by producer/director Ragnar Tornquist
  • an Age of Conan Comic Book, autographed by original producer Gaute Godager

* Contributions will be securely processed through ChipIn.com and PayPal and held in escrow until the time of the auction. Contributions will be gladly accepted prior to May 1st and up until the day of the auction.
** Autographed items donated by The Cry Gaia Network
